UTILITY USER'S TAX (UUT) REFUND PROGRAM BEGINS MAY 1, 2019

The City of Chico Finance Office will be accepting applications for the annual UUT Refund Program between May 1, 2019 and June 30, 2019. The Refund Program offers low income rate payers a refund on taxes for gas, electric, water and telecommunications services paid between May 1, 2018 and April 30, 2019.               Short Term Rentals (STRs)

              Short term home sharing and/or vacation rental-units arrangements require reporting of Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) to the City of Chico. For the privilege of occupancy in any short term rental, each transient shall be subject to and shall pay a tax in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the rent charged by the operator. Operators are required to collect the tax and transmit it with a TOT return to the City monthly. TOT returns for STRs including appeals can now be submitted online, by phone, and by mail. To submit a TOT return or appeal online, please click on the link below.

              Please note, the City of Chico has contracted HdL Companies of Fresno, CA to administer TOT for all STRs.
