  • The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $45.5 million from the State Water Implementation Revenue Fund for Texas (SWIFT) program* to the Upper Trinity Regional Water District (Fannin, Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Grayson, and Wise counties). The District will use the assistance to finance land acquisition for the proposed Lake Ralph Hall reservoir.
  • The dates of the conversion are July 31 through August 2, 2019. The voltage conversion will be divided into three days with a different group of customers each day. No outage will start before 8:00 a.m. each morning. Some of the outages could last up to several hours for an individual group.
  • Lucille Ball by Leo Ransom. Quilts will again be displayed at the Sam Rayburn House, the Civic Center, Sam Rayburn Library, the Arts Center, Bonham Visitor Information Center, Fannin County Museum of History, Fannin County Historical Commission, Bonham Public Library, and the Episcopal Church, in Honey Grove.   • Dani Gerhardt has been named the CASA Volunteer of the Quarter by the Fannin County Children's Center. To learn about all the ways to volunteer at the Children's Center, make plans to attend the next volunteer information session on Tuesday, August 27.
  • City of Bonham officials held a ceremonial groundbreaking Monday, July 22, 2019 to celebrate a splash pad being installed on the south side of Powder Creek Park, with hopes that children can be enjoying the splash pad before the end of summer. Powder Creek Park is located at 400 South 5th Street in Bonham.
  • 1971 – birth of Alison Krauss, American singer-songwriter and fiddler. Alison Maria Krauss (born July 23, 1971) is an American bluegrass-country singer and musician. She entered the music industry at an early age, winning local contests by the age of 10 and recording for the first time at 14. She signed with Rounder Records in 1985 and released her first solo album in 1987. She was invited to join the band with which she still performs, Alison Krauss and Union Station, and later released her first album with them as a group in 1989. She has released fourteen albums, appeared on numerous soundtracks, and helped renew interest in bluegrass music in the United States. Her soundtrack performances have led to further popularity, including the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, an album also credited with raising American interest in bluegrass. As of 2018, she has won 27 Grammy Awards from 42 nominations, ranking her third behind Quincy Jones and classical conductor Georg Solti for most Grammy Award wins. She is the most awarded singer and the most awarded female artist in Grammy history.
