Providence Mayor Jorge O. Elorza today announced that Providence’s 13 water play parks and 5 public outdoor pools will be operating with extended hours this weekend due to the forecasted heatwave.

Mayor Jorge O. Elorza today announced a slate of robust summer opportunities available to Providence families as part of the City’s EAT, PLAY, LEARN summer programming campaign. This year’s diverse offerings include the free Summer Meals program, engaging recreation and parks programming including access to public pools and waterparks beginning July 1, and a new series of performance arts celebrations hosted in neighborhood parks.
Mayor Jorge O. Elorza, the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism and the Providence Tourism Council are pleased to announce the City’s annual Independence Day Celebration will be held at India Point Park on Thursday, July 4th beginning at 7:00 pm (rain date July 5). The event will feature family-friendly activities, live entertainment and a fireworks display. This event is free and open to the public.
