Introducing ... our new roundabout gateway sign! This project is part of the wayfinding program in the Harbourtown Centre as component of Downtown Revitalization.
The gateway sign features a greeting in four languages over four panels: English, French, Ojbway and Michif. The Ojibway and Michif translations were developed in partnership with representatives from Common Ground and the Metis Nation of Ontario.
Funding for the project was provided by Destination Northern Ontario, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, and the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario.
Thanks to Sierra Construction for installing the sign!
Thank you to @htfcwpg HTFC Planning and Design for their lead on the design of this roundabout sign.

  • A boat ride on Lake of the Woods is one of our favourite things to do in Kenora. Getting in and out of a boat is not easy for everyone. Handrails have been installed at three municipal docks to help those in wheelchairs, other mobility devices, and limited mobility to get in and out of boats easily. Find the handrails at Keewatin, Main and Matheson Street docks. #AccessibleCanada #AccessAbility #NAAW2019

  • Everyone can enjoy the Rabbit Lake Trail system. It is partially inclusive, accessible, and paved. This trail starts at the end of Nairn Avenue and this portion is called the Rotary Way Trail. This portion of the trail joins into the main Rabbit Lake Trail at a spectacular viewing site overlooking Rabbit Lake. The journey continues along the shore of Rabbit Lake to Garrow Park and Beach. To complete the journey, the trail then follows Birchwood Crescent, onto to Valley Drive which leads you back to Nairn Avenue. There are several lovely resting areas along the trail. #kenoratrails

  • This is a very exciting project to feature during National AccessAbility Week.
The Kenora Rotary Splash Park at Norman Park has been designed with accessible features. Further upgrades to Norman Park are also underway including an accessible path and washrooms. Plan to attend the Grand Opening on Saturday, July 6th to see for yourself!
NOTE: photo is an example, not the final design.
